El Michoacano is a restaurant that rocks at Mexican food. Their shrimp cocktail is loaded with shrimp and avocados. The chile verde is tender. For dessert, you have to get the fried ice cream. If you're thirsty, there's beer, wine, soda and agua de pina or agua de sandia (Pineapple or watermelon water). When you get seated, they bring you some fresh and crispy chips and delicious salsa. The owner and staff are very friendly and it shows in their food and service. You get a lot of food that fills you up.

Tonys Firehouse Restaurant is a great place to get a bit to eat. The walls are lined with firefighter decor. They make some great pizza here. Though it can get a little pricey for the pizza, you are getting in return, a very delicious and high quality pizza. Your pizza will always be cooked to perfection. Crust crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Besides pizza, there's pasta, sandwiches, salads, and a whole breakfast menu, so you shouldn't have a hard time finding something to eat.

At Giovanni’s Italian Eatery the food here is simply amazing. From the lasagna to their steaks, you'll love every dish that you order. Some popular dishes here are the lasagna, ravioli, spaghetti, and stuffed mushrooms. Even pizza and calzone are good too. Giovanni’s is a little hidden gem in Shafter. What may surprise you is that they actually have Thai food here too. The pad Thai and the pineapple fried rice. Maybe some of the best which is weird because Giovanni’s is considered in Italian restaurant.

La Fonda Taqueria & Mariscos is really the place to get some Mexican food. Some popular dishes here are the carne asada burrito, the tortas and the shrimp enchiladas. The soup and tacos are probably some of the best you'll ever taste here. Everything is full of flavor and made with wonderful ingredients. The food here will keep you coming back for more. Sometimes the wait for your food is a little long but it’s definitely worth it. It's a nice, clean restaurant with wonderful staff and great food to fill your belly with.
